Alison Gannett, Free Skiing Champion, will be giving a multi media show on global warming, with giveaways and Salt Lake City's best DJ Panama. At Park City Mountain Resort, during the day, Alison and friends will be with the Clif Bar RV that is generated by vegetable oil.

Along with Alison's inspirational adventures, learn about how you can calculate your carbon emissions, decrease and offset your carbon footprint - all while saving money in your home or business. Share in Alison's ski adventure film clips and images from around the world - India, Bhutan, Alaska, France, and South Africa. Learn how this World Champion Extreme skier has devoted most of her life to making this world a better place.

The goal of the Clif Bar Save Our Snow Winter Roadtrip is two-fold: We want to call attention to the impact of global warming on winter sports, and we want to inspire people to take small actions that can help fight climate change. As an athlete representing a company driven by athletes, we're reaching out to skiers and snowboarders on this road trip, but the reality is that we all have a shared responsibility to change our behaviors in order to protect the earth.

Alison Ganett, Free Skiing Champion from Crested Butte, Colorado is first, environmentalist who became a professional skier on the side. Global warming is destroying not only the mountain snowpack, but also our planet. This snowpack provides us our playground, but also drinking water for 80% of the planet. As temperatures rise, so too will climate disruption which will, vastly, increase the magnitude of deadly earthquakes, tornados and hurricanes etc…

The Clif Bar SOS Winter Roadtrip highlights six simple actions anyone can take. If we all took these simple steps it would have a dramatic impact on global warming. Alison and friends will be handing out tips out to the people they meet on the SOS Winter Roadtrip and they're also available to anyone at clifbar.com and alisongannett.com.

1. Buy Renewable Energy - Renewable energy helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the main contributor to global warming. A $2 Clif Bar Cool Tag, for example, funds enough clean wind energy to offset the impact of driving a car about 300 miles. Cool Tags are available at Clifbar.com or from us during our road-trip.

2. Eat Local, Organic Foods and Products- Organic farming practices use 30-50% less fossil fuels, which when burned create "greenhouse" gases--the primary cause of global warming.

3. Use CFL Light Bulbs - Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs use about 75% less energy and last 10 times longer than classic incandescent while emitting the same light.

4. Reduce Reuse, Recycle, Rot - For every pound of waste eliminated or recycled, you save energy and reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by at least 1 pound. CO2 is the principal "greenhouse" gas thought to be driving global warming.

5. Carpooling, buying a hybrid or switching to bio-diesel - Saves money on gas, drastically reduces CO2 emissions, and reduces dependency on oil.

6. Get an Energy Audit - contact your local electric utility to see if they offer free audits. Ask for a blower door test as well. Strive to reduce your utility bills by 50%.

FIRST-EVER SCIENTIFIC STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING ON PARK CITY MOUNTAIN RESORT AND THE SNOW SPORTS INDUSTRY

Park City, Utah (January 2, 2006) - Powdr Corporation, Park City Mountain Resort, and KPCW radio proudly present the first-ever comprehensive scientific study of global warming's potential effect on Park City Mountain Resort and the Utah snow sports industry. The results of the $60,000 study will be presented at a town hall meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9th at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts in Park City, Utah.

Modeled after a similar study commissioned by Aspen, Colorado, Scientists at Stratus Consulting and the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research at the University of Colorado, Boulder, have projected what the snow pack will look like at Park City Mountain Resort in the years 2030, 2075 and beyond.

"I was shocked when I heard the results of this study for the first time," said John Cumming, CEO of Powdr Corp. "Bottom line, if global warming continues at its current rate, it will mean the end of snow sports and our business as we know it. However, as the study shows, there is still a window of opportunity for all of us to help save our snow, but we - and our political leaders - need to take decisive action now."

The program will commence with singer/song-writer, Kathy Mattea's climate change presentation, based on Al Gore's hit film, An Inconvenient Truth." Mattea was one of 50 well-known entertainers trained by the former vice-president to speak about scientists' findings on global warming.

Following Mattea's presentation, Brian Lazar from Stratus Consulting, will present the results of the study, which project what wintertime temperatures will look like month-by-month at Park City Mountain Resort during the rest of this century. Lazar bases his conclusions on seven different models of greenhouse gas emissions developed by the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

To continue the program, snow modeling expert Mark Williams will show what the various temperature scenarios developed by Lazar will mean for the snowpack at Park City Mountain Resort. His findings are based on historical data from the Resort, the NationalWeather Service's SNOTEL site at 9,000 feet. Photos taken by Landsat Satallites were also used to determine snow coverage at the Resort.

The program will conclude with a presentation by the head of Aspen's City Department of Climate Change about what their town is doing to reduce its carbon footprint. In addition, representatives from the three area resorts, Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley and The Canyons, will participate in a panel discussion to communicate their plans to help stop the effects of global warming.

Key funding for Save Our Snow was provided by Park City Mountain Resort, Powdr Corporation and KPCW radio. Additional funding was provided by Deer Valley, The Canyons and the Summit County Recreation, Parks and Arts Tax.

Alta Ski Area Steps Up Environmental Commitment

For Immediate Release Alta UT (October 17, 2006). Alta Ski Area is a Visionary Partner with Rocky Mountain Power through the Blue Sky program. http://www.utahpower.net/Homepage/Homepage66524.html. Our choice to participate in clean, renewable wind power is our promise to purchase 900,000 kilowatt-hours (kwh) for the next 12- month period, offsetting over 23% of Alta's energy consumption. The environmental impact is equivalent to avoiding 900 tons of CO2 emissions per year. "It is the right thing to do," remarks Alta's President and General Manager, Onno Wieringa. "We appreciate the opportunity to work with this program to take our commitment to the next level."

Alta is working with Clif Bar http://www.clifbar.com/ and the Bonneville Environmental Foundation www.b-e-f.org to make our Sugarloaf lift a 'Green Lift." Clif Bar, a company dedicated to restoring and sustaining our environment, and one who supports others who do so, will work with us in purchasing renewable energy certificates through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation. Offsetting the energy used to run this lift translates to another 11% of Alta's energy consumption offset by renewable energy, bringing the total to 34%.

Alta is the first and only ski resort to become a member of Salt Lake City's environmental e2 program that recognizes businesses for their efforts to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. http://www.slcgreen.com/pages/e2list.htm.

In 2005 we completed an energy audit with Rocky Mountain Power and have implemented changes, including switching to fluorescent light bulbs and using radiant heat and timers on lift terminals. Summer, 2005 we replaced the Watson Shelter mid-mountain restaurant with planning based off the energy audit. Our goal was to create an efficient, sustainable, high-performance building and inform the public on steps we are taking to integrate environmentally sound practices into our Alta community.

Alta will continue to educate our employees and public about the value of our environmental efforts and impacts on global warming. Says Wieringa, " We continue to challenge our managers and employees to come up with new ideas to be more energy efficient." Alta's Environmental Report can be viewed online at www.alta.com. The report lists more accomplishments and enduring efforts we have made during the last two decades to remedy past environmental impacts and to integrate sustainable environmental practices into our everyday operations.

Alta Ski Area is dedicated to sustainable environmental practices - learning from the past, being guided by best-management practices now, and leading with innovation and research into the future.

Sustainable Seasons Project Announces Launch

Salt Lake City, Utah, December, 6 2006– Through a collaboration of professional skiers and the Utah environmental community, Sustainable Seasons has been created. Envisioned by professional skier Jack Nelson, the program will use professional athletes throughout the Wasatch and their extensive travel schedule and visibility at ski resorts across the west to help promote the use of alternative fuels and a more sustainable lifestyle. To learn more about the athletes and to become involved check out www.sustainableseasons.org.

The flagship of the program will be the Sustainable Seasons biodiesel powered truck used for the teams travels. Sustainable Seasons will accomplish its goals through the visibility of their truck, demonstrations on alternative fuels and sustainability, and an active involvement with the media. Running solely on biodiesel, the truck will serve as an example of viable alternative fuel vehicle readily available in today’s market place.

To help raise funds for the project, Sustainable Seasons will begin an ongoing online auction starting December 18, 2006. Products have been donated by sponsors and even the athletes themselves. The auction will continue throughout the season, helping to fund the purchase of a vehicle for the project, as well as the travels of the Sustainable Seasons team.
